Relocation Resources
Let me know if there are any great options I missed, or if any of these links breaks at some point.
Finding an apartment
Shipping Containers
- ABF Upack (using for Seattle to Fellowship City, will keep you posted)
- PODS
- GoMinis (used them from NOLA to Seattle, no complaints, way cheaper than PODS)
- SAM
- Mobile Mini
Moving Truck Rentals
- U-Haul
- Ryder (watch out for the speed governor; some U-haul and Penske trucks have them too, but not as commonly so I hear)
- Budget (same company as the car rentals, different division)
- Penske
Boxes, Equipment, Supplies
- Costco (mail-order box kits, they come with tape and a marker)
- U-Haul boxes (mail order, can get individual boxes, but their kits are more expensive than Costco)
- EcoBoxes (used box kits & individual boxes for you crunchy people, mail order, still doesn’t beat Costco price)
- Moving Box Guy (wholesale prices, mail order, free shipping, individual boxes & kits, may beat Costco if you include the shipping)
Packing/Loading Labor
- Moving Staffers (Highly recommended by ABF U-pack people, but way overpriced IMHO. They are a service, and charge a hefty service fee on top of what you pay the guys who actually do the loading.)
- Moving Labor Services (Hooks you up with local services on both ends of your move, but does not charge a service fee. Provides customer ratings for each service. You pay on the front end but local service doesn’t get the money till you give them the payment coupon after the work is done. I went with this service & I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.)
- Your friends (no link, get your own!)
